PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Washington Alloy E308L is a low-carbon stainless steel electrode specifically designed for welding 304 and 304L stainless steels. The "L" in E308L signifies low carbon content (≤ 0.04%), which helps prevent carbide precipitation during welding, significantly improving intergranular corrosion resistance—especially in high-temperature applications.
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION:
Carbon (C): ≤ 0.04
Chromium (Cr): 18.0 – 21.0
Nickel (Ni): 9.0 – 11.0
Manganese (Mn): ≤ 2.0
Silicon (Si): ≤ 0.90
Phosphorus (P): ≤ 0.03
Sulfur (S): ≤ 0.03
MECHANICAL PROPERTIES:
Tensile Strength: ~85,000 psi (586 MPa)
Yield Strength: ~60,000 psi (414 MPa)
Elongation: ~35%
Impact Toughness: Good at cryogenic and elevated temperatures
