Under the distinguished patronage of His Worship, the Mayor Alderman, Haji Kazim Hosein, Southern Supplies Limited, in association with Knox Street and Environs, Midtown Associates hosted their Annual Divali Celebrations on Friday October 30th, 2015.
Attendees were treated to a variety of highly entertaining Cultural Items such as thrilling dances from the Paramjyoti School of Dance, lead by Ms. Leena Yara and Ms. Priya Persad, specially trained in Indian Classical Kathak Dance and Folk Dance as well as harmonious traditional songs by Ms. Kathy Ann Pariman and members of the Hare Krishna Movement. Christopher Seetahal, Form 3 Student of Naparima College thrilled with his renditions on our National instrument. Also giving spirited musical performances were the Maharaj Brothers and Friends.
The month of October, dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness, is over, but the cause should not be forgotten, as there is still a lot of work to be done.
While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same, as this continues to be an essential key in curtailing the disease.

The skies were overcast and the rains were intermittent, but that did nothing to damper the sunny spirits of the 2500+ persons who supported the Glow 5K Run/Walk at Skinner Park, San Fernando on July 4th,2015. Last weekend, on Sunday 28th June,2015, the Krishna Mandir, located on Todd Street, San Fernando held their 63rd Anniversary Celebrations.
The programme included worship, an award presentation segment and a number of highly entertaining cultural items such as, a very compelling performance by the Palmyra Hindu School.
The Southern Supplies Group of Companies, along with some other very generous hearts, were honored for their unwavering support and continued commitment to the Mandir and it’s endeavors.
The Knox Street Sports and Cultural foundation in conjunction with the Krishna Mandir hosts an annual Ramleela celebration at the Robin Recreational Park, formally known as Knox Street Recreational Park.
The celebrations have been a yearly event since 2001 and Southern Supplies Limited has been one of the main sponsors of the event for the last 14 years.
The event ran for three days Friday, Saturday and Sunday and patrons to the event witnessed a cultural masterpiece portrayed by the brave children of the Krishna Mandir youth group, devotees of the Mandir, Children from San Fernando and environs along with other supporters of the event.
On Saturday 13th June, 2015, Fluor Daniel hosted their 7th Annual Curry Duck Cook off at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.
