This is an original Makita replacement part manufactured for use with power cutters. The filter is the first of three filters, and fits into the cover. The filter is used to stop debris from entering the engine. The filter can be cleaned, but overtime will need to be replaced. Worn out filters can allow debris to pass into the engine, which can damage the piston and cylinder resulting in a loss of compression. The filter is sold individually.
