Southern Supplies Limited sponsors Knox Street and Environs Ramleela celebrations.

The Knox Street Sports and Cultural foundation in conjunction with the Krishna Mandir hosts an annual Ramleela celebration at the Robin Recreational Park, formally known as Knox Street Recreational Park. The celebrations have been a yearly event since 2001 and Southern Supplies Limited has been one of the main sponsors of the event for the last 13 years.

The event at Knox Street is a three day event and typically runs from Friday to Sunday with the performance of Puja (opening prayers) by the Pundit of the Mandir, with various depictions of the story throughout the course of the three days with the climax of the story ending with the burning of Lord Ravan.

Ramleela is the re-enactment of the exploits of Shri Ram as narrated in the Ramayana (Holy text) as he appeared on earth many thousands of years ago. This Leela (or play) illustrates the various occurrences that took place during his descent in Treata Yug  (the period in time of Lord Rama's descent) including the deliverance of his devotees, the redemption of sinners, his blessings to the saints and sages, his various lessons on humanity and also his restoration of Dharma or the righteous way of life. He is the epitome of the ideal son, brother, husband, King, friend and student and also displayed God-like qualities which made Him distinct from a normal man. Click here to learn more.
